• Virat Kohli has been an inspirational leader and enjoys the love and support of his teammates and fans alike.

Kohli has often been spotted clicking selfies and chatting with children and his fans. He has earned plethora of fans by his work ethics be it on or off the field.

The Indian cricket team on Friday departed for their marathon tour of Ireland and England starting next week.

India start their tour with a two-match Twenty20 International series against Ireland on June 27 and June 29 before they play a limited-overs series and Tests against England. 

The two cricketing giants play a five-match Test series from August 1 and India will be keen to come back home with the trophy after their disastrous last two campaigns in England.

However, Kohli said the South African tour has given his team the confidence to do well abroad.

"After what happened in South Africa, we are actually looking forward to some tough cricket," Kohli told the media in New Delhi on Friday.

"When we were playing the Test series in South Africa and lost the first two matches, people thought we were outplayed. Then we won the third Test and won the two series after that. Then they realised how well we played. We are looking forward to going to other countries and playing well. We are looking forward to playing difficult cricket," Kohli said.

On the tour of South Africa, Kohli hammered 871 runs across formats and was the leading run-scorer in the Test and ODI series.

He was scheduled to play for Surrey to get used to English conditions before the Test series gets underway in August but the 29-year-old had to pull out after he sustained a neck injury during the IPL.

It would be fair to say Kohli is not overtly worried about his chances against the swinging red leather this English summer.

Meanwhile, India coach Ravi Shastri said every series is a home series for India. His logic can sometimes be tricky to understand for the casual follower but he offered an explanation.

"Every series is important. Every game is a home game for us. We do not play the opposition - we play the pitch. The 22-yards.. that is what we have to try and conquer. The boys know they will be rated if they can adapt to different conditions.

"We are looking forward to playing in other countries.. I am not sure too many teams want to come to India," he said.

The Indian cricket team in Icc World Test Championship

NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team will make its debut in the much-debated inaugural ICC World Test Championship in July 2019, against West Indies in the Caribbean, and then mark its campaign in the 13, team (ODI) League versus Sri Lanka (away) in June 2020.

• Cricket's governing body, the ICC, on Wednesday released its FTP for 2018-2023, in which its confirmed the dates for all bilateral international fixtures and incorporated all three formats of the game for the various men's teams.

• As per the ICC, the nine top-ranked Test teams will participate in the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship, which will run from July 15, 2019 to April 30, 2021.

• "The sides will play six series in the two-year cycle on a home and away basis against opponents they have mutually selected. The two top-ranked sides will then progress to the June 2021 final to decide the World Test champions," said an ICC release on Wednesday. "In addition, the 12 Test playing nations and the Netherlands, will participate in the 13-team ODI League, which will run from 1 May 2020 to 31 March 2022 and all the sides will play eight series over a two-year cycle on a home and away basis against mutually agreed opponents."

• The ODI League, stated the ICC, will serve as a qualification pathway for the 2023 World Cup to be hosted by India. As hosts, India and the next seven highest-ranked teams in the ODI league as of March 31, 2022 will qualify directly for the World Cup while the bottom five sides will get a second chance to qualify through the ICC World Cup Qualifier.

• "The agreement of this FTP means we have clarity, certainty and most importantly context around bilateral cricket over the next five years. The World Test Championship will get underway next year with the ODI league kicking off in 2020 as part of the qualification towards the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023," said the ICC Chief Executive David Richardson.

• "Bringing context to bilateral cricket is not a new challenge, but with the release of this FTP, our Members have found a genuine solution that gives fans around the world the chance to engage regularly with international cricket that has meaning and the possibility of a global title at the end."

• The ICC released the men’s Future Tours Programme (FTP) from 2018-2023 on Wednesday. The inaugural WTC will run in two cycles – 2019-2021 and 2021-2023 and feature nine top-ranked Test teams. It will run from July 15, 2019 to April 30, 2021 and the top two ranked teams will play the final at Lord’s in June. Teams will play six series in the two-year cycle on a home-and-away basis against opponents mutually selected, the statement said.

•    The ICC released outlined the principles followed by its Members in the creation of     this men's FTP as the following:   

• Scheduling the appropriate amount of cricket in each format (home and away) for each Member.  

•  Inclusion of existing series that have already been committed to commercial partners (mainly in 2019-20). 

• The Indian cricket team will make its debut in the ICC World Test Championship in July 2019 against West Indies on their turf.

Rain, light, Brathwaite help West indies escape with a draw

• Sri Lanka pushing for a win, and West indies looking to hold on to a draw. It was a matter of five wickets, before one final spell of rain and poor lights came to halt the game in spaced intervals, and allowed West-indies succeed in their motive. And thus, with the final position of the game - Windies 147 for 5, two decisions by the Sri Lanka come to the fore of discussion.

1. Did Dinesh Chandimal make a mistake by not declaring the second innings overnight?

        2. Will he rue the two-hour period lost due to Sri Lanka's reluctance to take field on Day 3?

• In hindsight, all these questions make for good discussions, but in reality, Sri Lanka have lost    the opportunity of winning the series, and go in to the final Test trailing the hosts 0-1.

• For the first time in five days it seemed that there will be uninterrupted play. And led by a dramatic first one and a half hour of play on Day 5, the game had reached an interesting position. Resuming the day on 334 for 8, Sri Lanka were bowled out early with Shannon Gabriel bagging the last two wickets. He finished with 8 for 62 in the innings, and match figures of 13 for 121 - the third best by a West Indian, and the best at home. In the process, he also bagged his 100 Test wickets. Gabriel for the second time in the innings got a wicket off a no ball when he overstepped while castling Akila Dananjaya.

• Needing 295 for a win, West indies were going to be stuck between going for a win and playing for a draw. But a couple of early strikes by Kasun Rajitha cleared that confusion for them. Devon Smith was teased into a drive and was caught at slip, while Kieran Powell flicked his second delivery straight to the square leg fielder to reduce West indies to 8 for 2 in the chase. West indies had to save the game first.

• Shai Hope looked good in the middle but his innings came to an  pause when a 148kmph delivery by Lahiru Kumara rose sharply and hit his ribs. He had to go back retired. He did come back to resume his inning two wickets's later and forged a crucial 51-run stand with Kraigg Brathwaite which proved crucial in West indies  bid to play for a draw.

• But during the period in which he was out injured Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich combined to bat out close to 15 overs. It wasn't the most impressive passage of batting, but effective nonetheless. Kumara had Chase struggling against his searing pace before a Suranga Lakmal delivery which nipped back in had him castled less than five minutes before the Lunch break. Soon after Lunch, Dowrich was undone by Akila Dananjaya. The 'keeper got himself in an awkward position and squared himself up while playing a delivery that spun and bounced more than usual to edge a catch to slips.

• Brathwaite, who had dropped anchor early, got slower in the post Lunch session, scoring only 12 runs in the two-hour period. Hope, on the other hand, displayed a far more authoritative display of batting against the older ball which wasn't aiding the pacers as it had been earlier.

• Hope's inning promised a lot but was cut short soon after Tea by a similar delivery from Lakmal that had accounted for the wicket of Chase. Jason Holder held on in company of Brathwaite, who yet again displayed the power of his patience with a four-and-a-half-hour vigil, to help West indies see through to a draw. The opener, in the process of his 172-ball stay, stroked his 17th Test fifty and remained unbeaten on 59.

• Gabriel, for his fine returns with the ball, was adjudged Player of the Match.

• And the drama isn't to end here. Ian Gould, who had quite a disappointing match as an on-field umpire, will have another of his decisions reviewed. Javagal Srinath, the match referee will come out with an official statement on the ball-tampering allegations leveled against Sri Lanka after the Test.

Khawaja 'extremely disappointed' by ODI omission

Usman Khawaja was "extremely disappointed" there was no room for him in Australia's limited-overs set-up despite unavailability of Steven Smith and David Warner, and has indicated that "training hard" will be a key to his return to the team's white-ball ranks.

• Despite an outstanding recent record in domestic cricket and a handful of useful displays in sporadic ODI opportunities for Australia, there was no room for Khawaja in the first squad to tour under the coaching of Justin Langer. This has meant greater first-up opportunities for the likes of Shaun Marsh, D'Arcy Short and Travis Head.

•  Khawaja was hesitant to give away too much detail about his omission - after previously being castigated by the selection chairman for his comments - but strongly indicated his disappointment at the decision. "I was extremely disappointed in all honesty," he told RSN Radio. "I've had a lot of chats to the selectors and a couple to JL about it.

• "I scored a lot of runs in one-day cricket for the last five or six years, especially in domestic cricket, even when I've been away, a couple of Aussie A tours, so I'm not sure there is a lot more that I can do other than keep trying to score runs and hopefully I get a chance.

•  At the moment, I just assume they didn't want me in the team because they just didn't want me in the team. There's not much other than that like my record in one-day cricket is better than my red-ball record funnily enough and my Big Bash record sometimes things just don't align.

•  "I've had some really good chats with JL, he's been really clear about everything, and hopefully if I put my head down, keep training hard, doing all the right things that at some stage if an opportunity comes up then I'm still quite in line, talking to him and talking around. I think the door's still there, I've just got to put my head down and hopefully an opportunity will present itself."

•  Last year Khawaja had ruffled plenty of feathers by saying that selection policy for Asian Tests, namely his omission from the batting order on the 2017 India tour, had caused "a lot of instability in the team". He subsequently criticised the media for reporting these comments, in a radio interview with the ABC's Jim Maxwell. In recent times Khawaja has done little other than to indicate how hard he has been working, posting Instagram videos of interval training before his departure to play county cricket for Glamorgan.

• The past Ashes summer took a considerable physical and mental toll on the Australian side, something that contributed to the environment in which Warner and Cameron Bancroft chose to tamper with the ball using a foreign object while staring at a Test match and series defeat to South Africa in Cape Town. Khawaja said the international treadmill was more draining than many realised.

•  I found it really draining to be honest after the Ashes, I know a few of the other guys did too," he sad. "I was really tired. It didn't hit me until it was all finished and I was like 'oh boy' it's all caught up to me. Going over to South Africa I just knew what I had to do was give it all for another four or five weeks and I'd have a break somewhat. But the amount of cricket we played last year leading into that last series in South Africa, I think I was just pretty tired from that in general and that's why I had two months off where I wasn't hitting balls, working on fitness and that sort of stuff, but staying away from the game."  

•  "It's more about the mind, you just don't switch off. I don't think people realise that when you're playing cricket and away on the tour - even in the middle of a Test series, you play a five Test series and go for about two months - and you just do not switch off the whole time because you're thinking about the next game, the next innings, what you've got to do to prepare. 

• Despite his absence from the England ODI squad, Khawaja said he was hopeful of an opportunity, and expressed a preference for opening the batting in limited-overs formats. "In white-ball stuff I've always opened and I love opening, getting out there amongst it at the start, while the fielders are up I can really take on the game and I really enjoy playing that role," he said.

• "In four-day and Test match cricket I prefer to be up in the top order somewhere, I've always preferred to bat at three. I batted four last week and it was actually nice to sit down there and just relax and not have to worry about being next in, which was a little bit different, but I think I prefer to be in the top four, where I've always batted my whole life."

•  A Sri Lanka Cricket source told that after match officials informed the team on the third day's play that the condition of the ball had been altered by using a foreign substance the previous day, the team was adamant in forfeiting the game. However, telephone calls from SLC officials - including CEO Ashley de Silva - ensured the players were back on the field to resume play on day three after a delay of more than two hours.

•  With the Sri Lankan board dismissed by a court ruling, the day-to-day affairs of the board has been managed by country's Sports Ministry and Sports Minister Faizer Musthapha too was drawn to the fray. Musthapha, a lawyer by profession, had assured players SLC's fullest support but had requested not to forfeit the Test, to maintain the spirit of the game.

•  "The players and the team management were adamant that the game should be forfeited as the match officials were accusing them without showing any concrete evidence. But they were informed by SLC to not to forfeit the game," an SLC source.

•  The Sri Lankan apparently were unhappy that the charge was brought just before play got underway on Saturday (June 16). After a 90 minute delay, the players agreed to take the field but there had been some miscomm-unication on the five runs being added to West Indies total and that led to captain Dinesh Chandimal withdrawing the team again. Discussions between players, match officials and SLC continued for another 30 minutes before play eventually resumed on day three.

•  Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal was charged by the ICC for ball tampering. Umpires Ian Gould, one of the on-field umpires had checked Dhananjaya de Silva's hand during second day's play and although initially he was believed to have been caught trying to change the condition of the ball, fingers are now being pointed at Chandimal.

•  Sri Lanka were confident that they will be cleared at the hearing that is scheduled for Sunday after fourth day's play. SLC and officials from the Sports Ministry were having discussions late on Sunday night to determine to the way forward from the situation.

• Whether they wanted to forfeit the game or not, the umpires had the authority to declare West Indies were winners by forfeiture as it happened in 2006 at The Oval during a Test match between Pakistan and England. On day four of the Test, umpire Darrel Hair ruled that Pakistani had been involved in ball tampering. Pakistan's players refused to take the field after tea in protest of the decision. After waiting for a couple of minutes, the umpires declared that England had won.

नई दिल्लीः मोदी सरकार ने आर्थिक रिफॉर्म के मोर्चे पर बड़ा कदम लिया है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी में ब्यूरोक्रेसी में एंट्री देने के लिए एक बड़ा बदलाव किया है जिसके तहत अधिकारी बिना यूपीएससी की परीक्षा पास किए हुए भी सरकार का हिस्सा बन जाएंगे. इस बदलाव के तहत आगे से निजी और पीएसयू कंपनियों में काम करने वाले प्रोफेशनल्स भी सरकार में जॉइंट सेक्रेटरी के लेवल पर काम कर पाएंगे. इसके लिए सरकार के डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ पर्सनल एंड ट्रेनिंग ने एक विज्ञापन भी जारी कर दिया है जो जॉइंट सेक्रेटरी पद के लिए है.


डीओपीटी के नोटिफिकेशन के मुताबिक सरकार में जॉइंट सेक्रेटरी के पद पर प्रोफेशनल्स की नियुक्ति की जा सकेगी. नीति आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष अरविंद पनगढ़िया ने डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ पर्सनल एंड ट्रेनिंग के विज्ञापन को ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा है कि पीएम मोदी ने एक और बड़े आर्थिक रिफॉर्म के तहत शीर्ष सिविल सर्विसेज के लिए लेटरल एंट्री (पार्श्व एंट्री) के तहत आवेदन मंगाए हैं. उम्मीद है कि देश के उच्च दिमाग वाले लोग इस मौके को हाथोंहाथ लेंगे और देश की सेवा करने के लिए आगे आंएंगे. ऐसे लोग आर्थिक सुधारों की सफलता के लिए बेहद अहम हैं.


डीओपीटी ने जो विज्ञापन जारी किया है उसके तहत 10 ऐसे लोगों की जॉइंट सेक्रेटरी लेवल पर नियुक्ति की जाएगी जिन्होंने राजस्व, फाइनेंशियल सर्विसेज, इकनॉमिक अफेयर्स, कृषि सहयोग- किसानों के विकास, रोड ट्रांसपोर्ट और हाईवेज, शिपिंग, पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन, नवीन और रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी, सिविल एविएशन और वाणिज्य में दक्षता हासिल की हुई हो.


आयु सीमा
इसके लिए अधिकतम आयु सीमा नहीं बताई गई है लेकिन न्यूनतम आयु 1 जुलाई 2018 तक 40 वर्ष होनी चाहिए. इससे कम उम्र होने पर आप एप्लाई नहीं कर सकते हैं.

कब तक दे सकते हैं आवेदन
इसके लिए 30 जुलाई 2018 तक आवेदन दिया जा सकता है.

इसके लिए कैबिनेट सेक्रेटरी के नेतृत्व वाली एक कमिटी अभ्यर्थियों का इंटरव्यू लेगी और 15 साल का अनुभव रखने वाले अधिकारी इसके तहत अप्लाई कर सकते हैं. जो अभ्यर्थियों किसी मान्यता प्राप्त यूनिवर्सिटी से ग्रैजुएट हैं, वे इसके लिए अप्लाई कर सकते हैं, इसके अलावा इन्हें सरकारी, पब्लिक सेक्टर यूनिट, यूनिवर्सिटी के अलावा किसी निजी इंस्टीट्यूट में कम से कम 15 साल का एक्सपीरिएंस भी होना चाहिए. इन पदों के लिए प्रोफेशनल्स ही आवेदन कर सकते हैं जो पहले से कार्य कर रहे हों.

नियुक्ति सिर्फ 3 सालों के लिए ही होगी
सरकार चुने हुए कैंडिडेट्स की नियुक्ति 3 साल के लिए करेगी हालांकि विज्ञापन में बताया गया है कि बाद में इसे दो साल के लिए बढ़ाया भी जा सकता है.

बता दें कि 35 वर्षीय रॉब निकोल ने साल 2010 में टी20 मैच के साथ अपने कैरियर का आगाज किया था जबकि पहला टेस्ट मैच 2012 में दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ खेला था और अंतिम बार ये दक्षिण अफ्रीका के ही खिलाफ मार्च महीने में 2012 को खेले थे। इसके बाद इन्हें टेस्ट में फिर कभी भी मौका नहीं मिला था।
रॉब निकोल ने अपने कैरियर में कुछ भी ख़ास प्रदर्शन नहीं किया इस कारण इन्हें इतने समय के बाद भी ज्यादा खेलने का मौका नहीं मिला और अंततः अब इन्हें सभी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट प्रारूपों से संन्यास की घोषणा करनी पड़ी है।

रॉब निकोल ने अपने 2 टेस्ट मैचों में 4 पारियों में महज 28 ही रन बनाये थे। ये ऊपरी क्रम के बल्लेबाज थे। जबकि वनडे कैरियर की बात करें तो 2011 से 2013 इन्होंने 22 वनडे मैच खेले थे जिसमें इनका बल्लेबाजी औसत तो बेहद अच्छा रहा था और 30.84 की औसत से कुल 586 रन बनाये थे। इस दौरान निकोल ने दो शतक और दो ही अर्धशतक बनाये।

The Foundations
Hailing from Jharkhand, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s rise through the ranks into international cricket is a tale of rebellion, extraordinary merit, perseverance, and, most of all, belief. After being scouted on the whims of his school P.E. teacher as a wicketkeeper, Dhoni created whispers in the cricketing circles of Ranchi - a teenaged boy with no measurable upper-body strength clearing boundaries against some of the best fast bowlers of the district. However, the system failed him as he found it difficult to make the cut against candidates of the more affluent A-tier states. Consequently, in a desperate move, he joined the Railways Ranji team and started to work as a ticket collector at the Kharagpur railway station to make ends meet.

Inspired by the KSCA, the BCCI started a country-wide Training Research Development Wing to scout talent from the more financially backward states. Dhoni immediately caught the eyes of the scouts and was sent on an A tour to Kenya, where his talent burst forth for the world to see as he showcased his batting pyrotechnics against world-class bowlers in alien conditions. He immediately shot to national reckoning and was selected for the tour of Bangladesh in November 2004.

By then a broad 22-year-old with long locks, Dhoni’s India career got off to an inauspicious start, as he scored a duck in his first ODI and a string of low scores followed. However, the selectors and the then-captain Sourav Ganguly decided to persist with him and gave him an extended run. Technique
There have always been questions about Dhoni's technique, and how ugly it looks. And the assessment of Dhoni's technique points out one of the major follies in our game - the temptation to judge by aesthetics rather than functionality. Technique is a product of how you get something done and not a step by step physical procedure as to how to do it. The method to achieve the fundamental virtues of the game rely on your abilities and aptitude to execute them in a particular way. Dhoni looks unorthodox at the crease, but he gets back and across. Instead of punching with his fore-arms, he bludgeons it with his wrists, with a low back-lift, ensuring that he plays it late. Most importantly, he has a still head while perceiving the line of the ball and at the point of contact. He also has an open stance allowing him to pull easily by getting to the back-foot early.

de Villiers has risen through the ranks to become one of the world's finest batsmen, most versatile batsmen, across all formats. When on song, de Villiers has the ability to take any bowling attack apart with his wide array of strokes on either side of the wicket. de Villiers continued to grow in stature and improved his batting technique such that in addition to having the mainstream attacking game, he developed an impenetrable defence with a karate-style back-and-across trigger movement, and the late-block, which could be extended into the all-important check-drive to counter late movement off the pitch and in the air. This non-committal technique ended up making him one of the finest batsmen of the age. A compact defensive technique to stave off misbehaving balls on a minefield and a plethora of strokes in his armory to thrash the bowlers on truer wickets - AB de Villiers, the batting monster, had arrived.

Nevertheless, as great as things were in terms of individual performances, off-field events often seeped into his game. Following South Africa's exit from the 2011 World Cup, de Villiers was named as the captain of their ODI and T20I team in June.
